Inside the case

FERRIS BEND, MINNESOTA • NOVEMBER 2026

THE RIVER FALLS SILENT.

THE RIDER OPENS EVERY DOOR.

WHEN HE SPEAKS A NAME, SOMEONE DIES.

Fourteen-year-old Nora Voss crosses a condemned bridge to collect the medicine her mother needs. Then the river falls silent, and a headless rider begins searching Ferris Bend.

Each time Nora looks into the pale lights of the head he carries, part of her vision disappears. Each night he comes closer to speaking her mother's name.

Real gold can interrupt him. It cannot end what called him. To save her mother, Nora must force the town to confront the deadly cost of closing its hospital—and learn that demanding certainty can become its own dangerous delay.

Some names must never be finished.
