THE GUARDHOUSE KNOCKS.
THE CAP IS STILL WET.
THE OFFICIAL STORY LEFT OUT THE CHILDREN.
Thirteen-year-old Sol knows Fort Caprock by temperature. When the guardhouse wall turns unnaturally cold and begins knocking from within, he finds an iron-booted thing waiting behind the door.
The old tour calls the fort a peacekeeping post. Hidden Army records tell another story: thirty-seven Mescalero Apache people forced inside, children among them, three deaths erased from every public plaque.
Fresh blood makes the Redcap stronger, and iron cannot stop it. With the gate cracking and a public tour watching, Sol must correct the record where everyone can hear—before the violence the fort concealed breaks free.
The walls remember what the plaques leave out.
